Networking

Having a broad knowledge about composition and character of soils requires bundles of studies and data. In order to use those information of other institutions too the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) collaborates with numerous institutions in Germany and abroad.

Beside scientific institutions of the federal government on the national level in particular the 16 German state geological surveys are essential partners of BGR. Also there are links to the German Society of Soil Science, the German Federal Soil Association (Bundesverband Boden) as well as universities and research institutes.

On international level, there are contacts to the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) as well as research institutes and universities. The most important partner in Europe is the Association of the European Geological Surveys EuroGeoSurveys (EGS). Furthermore BGR is in touch with the Directorate Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the EC referring to special issues around soils.
