BGR Energy Study 2021

BGR Energy Study 2021 - Data and Developments Concerning German and Global Energy Supplies (PDF, 4 MB)

The latest energy study of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) includes statements and analyses on the situation of natural gas, crude oil, nuclear fuels, coal and on renewable energy resources including geothermal energy and hydrogen, as of the end of 2020.

The focus is on estimating the geological inventory of energy resources with reliable statements on reserves and resources. In addition, the commodity markets are examined with regard to the development of production, export, import and consumption of fossil energy commodities and current and socially relevant energy issues are addressed.

The data sets published in the BGR Energy Study are a classified and evaluated extract of the BGR energy resources database and were compiled from specialist journals, scientific publications, reports from industry, specialist organisations and political bodies, internet sources and our own surveys. If not explicitly mentioned otherwise, all of the data presented here is derived from BGR's energy resources database.
