Review of drill cores at the drill core storage facility of the Droshilowskoe tungsten project
Source: BGR
As part of the German-Kazakh raw material partnership, 50 projects and deposits in Kazakhstan have been analyzed and re-evaluated by the BGR in 2012 and 2013, applying a set of selected criteria developed for this purpose. Besides nonferrous metal deposits for copper, lead, zinc and tin, deposits for steel refiners like vanadium, tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum and titanium, as well as iron -and fluorspar deposits were studied. The basic information on the projects was provided by the Kazakh State Committee for Geology and Subsoil Use as well as Kazakh companies.
The re-evaluated basic information on deposits and mineral projects shall support German industrial companies and raw material buyers in setting up exploration, prospection or mining joint-ventures projects with Kazakh companies. It could also support them in acquiring concessions or researching new supply sources. The most promising projects were documented in factsheets that were presented in a final workshop.
