The BGR’s core repositories
The BGR (Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe, Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources) is storing drill cores at its locations in Hannover, Grubenhagen (near Einbeck) and Berlin-Spandau. At two of them, it shares the use of its core repository with the LBEG (Landesamt für Bergbau, Energie und Geologie, State Authority for Mining, Energy and Geology).
In autumn 2012 the National Core Repository for Continental Drill Cores was opened by the BGR as part of the core repository in Berlin-Spandau; this was initiated by the German Research Drilling Consortium GESEP e.V.
Our core repositories are open to external users. Do not hesitate to contact us.
