Information on the German seismometer stations

There are more than 150 seismometer stations in Germany operated by university institutes, state earthquake surveys and BGR. The high density of the stations in the Lower Rhine Bay, the Rhine Valley Graben and in Vogtland reflects the higher risk of earthquakes in these German regions. The earthquakes occurring in these areas can be very precisely localised by a dense station network, for the enhanced analysis of their causes.

Up-to-date information on the names, localities and the operators of each of the German stations is available in the following. The input mask can be used to select the seismometer stations currently operating in Germany from the BGR seismological database based on three different criteria:

  • Single station via the station code
  • Station list in a selected area
  • Station list of a selected operator
