About the work of BGR
The multifaceted departments of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources regularly provide the public with remarkable information: On field operations at home and abroad, expeditions to polar regions, exploration trips with research vessels or analyses and experiments in state-of-the-art laboratories, BGR employees achieve new scientific results and findings.
With its research work, BGR makes important contributions to a sustainable handling of resources and the protection from geo-hazards. The scientific results serve the purpose of counselling politics and business, but also partner institutions within development cooperation. Last but not least, they form the basis for the factual and well-grounded information of the public and a broad transfer of knowledge.
