BGR in Europe

In addition to bilateral scientific cooperation, BGR is also involved at European level, including through its active participation in EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), an association of over 30 national and regional geological services in Europe.

Apart from direct scientific collaborations, BGR is trans-nationally involved in EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), the association of more than 30 national and regional geological surveys in Europe. EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) is a non-profit organization with the goal of providing neutral, balanced and practical support to European institutions with geoscience expert knowledge from across Europe.

Collaboration covers topics such as mineral resources, groundwater, geochemistry, marine geology, geoinformation and Earth observation.

Through its office in Brussels, EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) maintains close contact with the relevant European institutions. Directors and scientists of the member surveys meet regularly for exchange, planning of joint projects and strategic coordination. More information about the structure and current projects of EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) can be found at www.eurogeosurveys.org.
