IODP3 Coordination

Since 1979 BGR has coordinated Germany’s participation in the International Ocean Drilling Program (IODP3) and its predecessor programs as part of the DFG Priority Program 527. The German IODP3 Coordination Office provides assistance to the national scientific community in its participation in the program, distributes information on calls for proposals and funding opportunities, coordinates national and international activities.

IODP3 is an international research collaboration that explores Earth’s history and dynamics using scientific ocean drilling. It is jointly supported by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD), which comprises 13 European countries including Germany, Canada, and Japan.
