Of the more than 2 million eligible objects (fossils, rocks, minerals), around 75% are currently digitized. They initially come from core samples, natural mineral deposits, mineralogy, stratigraphy and scientific originals. A wide variety of searches can be carried out in this digital inventory, which is constantly being expanded.

In addition to a basic selection of the type of object and the sub-collections, it is possible to search for fossil, rock and mineral names as well as geographical terms up to the point of discovery and many other options, such as rock color - also in combination. In addition to a description of the objects with numerous parameters, there are one or more photos of the object, which can be enlarged in the object description. The descriptive information is currently stored in German, but entries can also be made in English.
